Ellis was born on October 7th, 1905 in Hickman Co., Tennessee. Ellis' father was James Francis (Jim) Jenkins and his mother was Julia Frances Martin. His maternal grandparents were George M. Dallas Martin and Mary Parker. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William Henry, James Luther, Arthur P., Anna Belle, Judy B., Mary A., Alice and Minnie D.. He died about 1984 in California.General Notes
A twin to his sister Alice, they both had red hair.
