According to the D. A. R. Index, Ephraim Wright, Jr. was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. In the appendix of Trumbull's History of Northampton, p. 629, his terms of service are given as two weeks in 1776 and four days in 1777.
About the time of his marriage, Ephraim Wright, Jr. moved from Northampton to become one of the founders of Westampton. Samuel L. T. Wright writes, "Following the old Berkshire Trail (Route 66) from Northampton to Huntington, start at the town line separating Northampton from Westhampton; go west, walk down a slight hill, cross a brook and begin to climb a long hill once known as Meeting House Hill, later known as Norton's Hill. About 65 rods up the hill we come to an ancient house on the north or right side of the road. This house was built in part by Ephraim Wright, Jr., owner from 1773 to 1814, and in part by his son Martin who resided there after his father's death."
Ephraim Wright, Jr. kept an old-fashioned tavern at this location until his death and he was commonly known as Landlord Wright. He died March 30, 1814, a victim of the epidemic fever which raged that year.
