James Ballou:
Ballous in America; Adin Ballou; OHS: Buried on property in Lincoln, R.I. Had to care for his mother and sister after his father died. Hannah and her daughter deeded their property to him. His brother, John, felt that this was unfair - after John's death, his son, John Jr., sued James for the property stating Hannah was not of sound mind. Court found in favor of James due to his cost of the care for his mother and sister - Also determined that Hannah was indeed of sound mind. Lived in Lincoln, Rhode Island, which was previously named Smithfield. Prior to 1750 named Louisquisset.
