MYLES BURRAS
NORTH FAIRFIELD - Myles Standish Burras, 90, formerly of 4 W. Main St., died Tuesday morning in an Atlanta hopital after a brief illness. He was born September 18, 1906 in North Fairfield, the son of Elmer and Lena (L'Amoureaux) Burras and named for his ancestor, Myles Standish. He had lived in North Fairfield for 51 years piror to moving to Stone Mountain, Georgia, to live with his daughter in 1996. He was the last surviving member of 1924 graduating class of North Fairfield High School. He was in business in the Norwalk, North Fairfield and Willard areas all of his life. He worked for Pioneer Rubber Co., worked in banking and for the North Fairfield Mill, and drove a truck for W.L. Mead. In the 1930's and '40's he was Huron County Clerk of Courts and served as mayor of North Fiarfield in the 1950's. He co-owned an automobile garage in North Fairfield in the 1940's and from 1948 to 1959 owned and operated Burras Motor Sales in Willard. He then ran the Landefeld Insurance Agency in Willard. He later retired from the Huron County Farmers Insurance Co. He was a long-time member of the North Fairfield Methodist Church, and a Past Master and 60 year member of Fairfield Lodge 261 F.&A.M. in Morth Fiarfield. He is survived by a daughter and son in law, Charla Sue and Joel Kunkler of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a grandson and granddaughter; sisters, Merle Leak of Willard and Verna Ruth Nestor of Bradenton, Fla; and numberous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lena Burras; his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Wheeler) Burras in 1996; sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. James) Noble and Marjorie (Mrs. Earl) Eaterlin and Betty (Mrs. Earl) Parker; and a brother, Leslie W. Burras. Friends may call from noon to 2pm Saturday at the United Methodist Church, 101 W. Main St., North Fiarfield, where funeral services will be hold at 2pm with the Rev. Kenneth Lane Willaims officiating. Burial will be in North Fairfield Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the United Methodist Church, 101 W. Main St., North Fiarfield 44855. Lindsey Funeral Directors, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard, handled arrangements.

...He was born September 18, 1906, and is a graduate of North Fairfield high school. He was married August 29, 1930, to Dorothy Wheeler, daughter of J.A. and Maud Robertson Wheeler. In Novmeber 1931, Miles Buras was elected Clerk of Fiarfield Township and served from January 1, 1932 to January 7, 1935 when he resigned to assume his duties as County Clerk to which he had been elected in November 1934.
