John Holly:
John Holly was in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1645 at least 2 of his children were born there. He and his father, Samuel, who died in Cambridge had a mill. John was in Stamford by 1647. He and his sons lived on the west side of South Street. John was Marshall 1650-1659, Town Clerk 1668-1670, Selectman 1666-1670. Elected to Represent Stamford in the Colonial Assembly of the Colony of New Haven 1654, 1655 and 1663. Commissioner for the Town of Stamford after New Haven was absorbed by Connecticut, as such was freed of taxes. Was Representative in the General Assemby of the Colony of Connecticut in 1670. John sold inherited lands in Cambridge in 1645.
John came to America in the "Mayflower" on her third voyage in the company of John Winthrop and Sir Robert Saltonstall in 1630. They landed at Charlestown, settled at Watertown, near Boston and in the spring of 1642 removed to Stamford.
