He lived in the ancestral home, Main St., below Pear Tree Hill. He was known as Lieut. and later as Captain. He was Constable in 1693; Selectman in 1710. In his will, which shows advanced ideas, for those days, regarding the education of girls, he says: "To my oldest son, Soloman, all my estate both real and personal, except that which is named hereafter; to my son Samuel, land at Cohasset; to son Job, a sum to pursue college studies, and 300 pounds in addition; and to my daughter Jael, 300 pounds, she is to be well educated."
The above mentioned Job had two sons graduate from Harvard College and enter the ministry. [Their father Job was also a minister]. James S. Loring says of them: "A blessing forever rests on the memory of the father and the two sons."
