John James Dobson (1885-1935) was the offspring of a second marriage for both of his parents, somewhat late in life for his father. He was born many years after his half brothers and sisters, and he studied for the church but was not ordained. John was a captain in the British Army in the 1914-1918 war (World War I). He was married, date unknown, to Marie Florence (Tiny), who was a daughter of Capt. Robert Johnstone of Bawnboy House, County Cavan, who was beleived to be Grand Master of the Orange Order there.
John and Marie went to Kenya about 1922, and ran a hotel in Nairobi. John died in Nairobi in 1935, and Marie continued living there until her death in 1952. They had one son, Robert Lawrence Archer Dobson who was born in 1920, and died in Nairobi in 1958. He served in the 1939-1945 war (World War II) in Major King's Dragoon Guards. He married Kathleen (Last name unknown) date unknown. They had one daughter Rowena Dobson, born in 1951.
