Death Certificate cause of death: asphyxia due to illuminating gas poisoning - (Suicidal)
Buried 9-24-1932 in Moravian Cemetery, Barn Singles #1240.
She died at #52 Monroe Ave., SI, but she lived at #11 Castleton Ave., New Brighton. Mrs. Alice Lintern lived at 52 Monroe Ave., Tompkinsville; Muriel killed herself in her mother's house. She was found in the kitchen by her sister Lillian. She left a suicide note: "I am desolate. I can't go on anymore."
(or maybe it was "I am in despair." She had had an argument with Fred, then left, went home to mother. The next day Uncle Charlie came over to tell Fred she had died.
May have had a relationship with, been "running around" with Jimmy Kyle; worked at the local grocery corner store; he used to bring her bags of day-old bread and rolls.
They were evicted from as many as 8 apartments with their daughters; the depression; Fred had little work; unskilled; had a roving eye; after Muriel died he had housekeepers in to look after the girls; Aunt Alice feels he slept with probably all of them.
Aunt Alice remembers a white coffin in the center of the room, chairs all around, and the children, it was so sad for the children. You never get over a suicide.
On the back of a photo of Muriel, Alice wrote: "Mrs. Lovely Mother Muriel Bertha Fischer Lintern, I love you truly, Dear. Why don't you come back to me. Father loves you and us."
