-The following obituary appeared in the Hartford Daily Courant dated 24 March 1915:

WOMEN EDUCATOR DIES IN OBSCURITY
Olive Lamoureaux, Nearly 90, Had Remarkable Career.

"On one of Hartford's side streets in a small house, there died yesterday, Olive Lamoureaux, a remarkable woman. She was born in Grand Linge, Quebec, and had she lived till April 9, she would have lacked only a year of being a nonegonarian. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Lyman Smith, No. 76 Russell street. She had lived in Hartford nine years.
The inspiration for her education work was obtained through the careful guidance of her parents. Raphael and Susan (LeClaire) Paicard, as they were known, founded a school which has survived to the present day. At least two of their descendants are yet active in the institution, which has taken the form of a preparatory school. For a few years up to the time of her marriage, Mrs. Lamoureaux, was both a missionary and teacher, specializing in French. Her husband, Francis Lamoureaux, was both a missionary and teacher and his early life was fired with a desire to spread education to the farming communities. This work would have been almost impossible without the help of his wife. Often they had to ride miles on horseback over rough roads to get to the various communities.
Sometimes they preached to gatherings in three places during a Sunday. When they returned they always had the classes to teach at home. They did all this on a pittance that did not exceed $250 a year, and in addition to their other work, they had to care for cows, chickens and a small plot of land to get the necessaries of life.
Fourteen children were born to the couple. Only five of them are now living. Besides Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Lamoureaux leaves the following children: Daniel Lamoureaux, Theophilus Lamoureaux and Professor Gauis Lamoureaux who lives in the state of Washington, and William Lamoureaux of Granby, Quebec. Professor Gauis formerly lived in Hartford, and was a private teacher of French and other subjects. There are some thirty grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Policeman Fred W. Smith is one of the grandchildren. Since coming to Hartford, she had been a member of the First Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at the home of her daughter tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. The burial will be in the Old North Cemetery."
