Narrative
Jean and his brothers, Mathurin and Pierre, lived on a farm in a small village, called La Gognonniere, in the forest of Perche, France. La Gagnonniere was between Tourouvre and Ventrouze. Their Parent's, Pierre Gagnon and Renee Roger, were tenents of Barnable and Francoise Crest, the grandparents of the brothers. Barnabe and Francoise had bought the farm on December 28, 1565, from Gervis Roger and Marion Aubert. They also owned an inn at the same spot. By 1635, the three brothers had moved to Quebec. Here they, with their partner Mace Gravel, opened a shop on the Rue Saint Peirre. On October 9, 1668, they sold the shop to Pierre Pellerin. They then moved to Chateau Richer. In 1640, in Chateau Richer, Province of Quebec, Canada, Jean obtained 7 arpents in river frontage by 126 arpents deep.
