Cornelius Storm came to the U.S. after Carl Sr. came. Cornelius married an Hawaiian woman, Josephine Carroll, who was mentally ill and commited to a mental institution. They had a son named David Carroll Storm. Cornelius Storm was shot and killed during a service station robbery. Jennie (Kalkman) Clark read about Cornelius Storm and the robbery in the paper (1927) and mentioned it to Tressa Storm. The family called California and discovered it was true. Children's Services Division took baby David. Carl Sr. was living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. CSD knocked on the door one day and said to Carl and Agnes, "You're the aunt and uncle of this little boy and his only relative. His father has been killed so we are leaving David with you."
David was then adoped and raised by Carl and Agnes. He had dark skin like an Hawaiian. He would visit Jennie Kalkman and when she gave him a bath he would say to her, "Wash me to be white as Carl" - his adopted brother.
David was divorced, according to his Death Certificate. He had no issue. He died November 10, 1981 by committing suicide in a parking lot in Walker, Kent County, Michigan. The Death Certificate stated he died of "massive brain damage due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head." He is buried in Rosedale Memorial Park, Ottawa County, Michigan.
His usual occupation was listed as trim checker for the Grand Rapids Trim Co. and he lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
