[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 3, Ed. 1, Tree #6300, Date of Import: Sep 11, 1998]
Dr. George B. Martin, age 71, one of the best known dentists of Frankfort and Clinton county, answered the last summons last evening at 9:30 o'clock at his apartments at 2 1/2 East Washington street, following an illness of but a few days from Apoplexy. Dr. Martin was stricken Sunday morning at 11:00 o'clock and has been unconcious from that time until he beckoned to death's summons last night. For several months he has been a sufferer from leakage of the heart but his condition had not been critical.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed but the remains will be taken to Bancroft, Mich., for burial.
Dr. Martin was born in Michigan, May 20, 1850, and for the past 37 years has been engaged in the profession of dentistry. For the last 14 years he has been actively engaged in this profession in this city. He was the discoverer of the now world famous pyorrhea treatment which bears his name and it is said that this is one of the most successful treatments for this disease known to the profession. For years he manufactured this remedy himself but when the demand became so great for the treatment, he sold the manufacturing rights to the Ranson & Randolph company of Toledo, Ohio. The sale was made on a royalty basis and Dr. Martin has been receiving regularly a large sum for his share of the sale of the remedy. This remedy will be continued on the market and will stand out as a glowing monument to the inventive genius of the deceased.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. George B. Martin, and one sister and two brothers. The sister is Mrs. Eva Baker of Bancroft, Mich., and the brothers are J. Martin of Bancroft, Mich., and E.H. Martin of Royal Oak, Mich. The latter was at the bedside when death came last night.
