John was born about 1660 in of Salem, Essex, Massachusetts.1   John's father was John Woodin and his mother was Mary Johnson. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Ithamar, Peter, Martha, Bethiah, Hannah, Sarah, Mary, Dorcas and Sarah Woodin.1
