Leonard H. White
Stockbridge, VT - Leonard H. White, 67, died Wednesday at his home after a long illness.
He was born on March 30, 1917, in South Royalton, the son of Henry and Agnes (Bingham) White. He attended schools in South Royalton.
Mr. White had owned and operated his own logging business for several years. He was a member of the Rural Lodge No. 29, F&AM of Rochester, the Farmers Chapter No. 21 of Brandon and the Rochester Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1978.
In 1938, he married Mabel George in Bethel and later married Frieda Rushford in 1969.
He leaves his wife, of Stockbridge; a son, Richard E. of Rochester; two daughters, Marie Hartshorn of Rochester and Priscilla Whitcomb of Fort Myers, FL; three stepsons, Hugh H. Taylor of North Carolina, Dennis W. Beattie of Granville and George Beattie of Moretown; two stepdaughters, Doris Billings of Rochester and Joyce Guillmette of North Carolina; five brothers, Fred of Randolph Center, Walter of Bethel, Calvin of Athol, MA, Henry of Rochester and Robert of Colorado Springs, CO; four sisters, Celia Lapine of Claremont, Gertrude O'Neil of Hinesdale, NH, Beulah Cogley of Hancock, VT; six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; also several neices and nephews. He was predeceased b;y a brother, Lawrence White; and three sisters, Beatrice Lambert, Helen Hill and Margaret Tenney.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will be tommorrow afternoon at 2 in the Rochester Federated Church. A Masonic Service will be held before the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Stockbridge Common Cemetary.
In liew of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White River Valley Ambulance Inc., Randolph, VT
The Fletcher Funeral Home of Rochester is in charge of the arrangements.
