John was born in 1830 in Baveria, Germany.1   John's father was Jacob Wendler and his mother was Margaret Rang. He had a sister named Elizabeth.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 82 in 1912 in Collinsville, Madison Co, Illinois.1
