¹ Joshua's father was Thomas Wells and his mother was Mary Beardsley. His paternal grandparents were Hugh Wells and Frances Belcher. He had nine brothers and four sisters, named Jonathan, John, Samuel, Noah, Ebenezer, Daniel, Ephraim, Thomas, John, Mary, Sarah, Mary and Hannah.¹
