Richard Treat (1584-1669) came from Pitminster, Somersetshire, England to Watertown, Mass in 1635. He was at Wethersfield, Conn in 1637, was a deputy to the General Court from 1637 to 1644, a governor's assistant from 1657 to 1665, was a patentee of Conneticut under Royal Charter of Charles II in 1662, and a member of Gov. John Winthrop's Council from 1663 to 1666.
