Sir William Tracy of Toddington, who was in ward to Laurence Tresham in the 29th year of the reign of Edward I (1300). At the beginning of the reign of Edward II, (1307) he was at the tournamint at Dunstable, as appears by an old drawing of a knight in armour, bearing a standard, upon which are the arms of the family. In the 17th year of the same reign he was appointed, jointly with John Bermansel, High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, which office in those times was of great importance and authority. He was twice elected to Parliament as one of the Knights of Gloucestershire. In a roll of the nobles of England, dated at Berwick, 6-30-1315, appears the name of William Tracy.
