Mary was born in McIntosh Co., Ga..1 Mary's father was John Thorpe and her mother was Dorcus Jourdain. She was an only child. She died in 1859.1 General Notes

"After the battle of Savannah, Mary Boswood, daughter of Dorcas Jourdain Boswood, rode into Savannah, with her body-servant, to establish her head right there because she was a widow."
Two men came over from France together, "Barons" Frere and Jourdain. They settled off Charleston at John's Island. Jourdain was made Governor of John's Island under grant by King."
