John was born in Thurleigh, Bedfordshire, England and his baptism took place there on October 27th, 1598.1   John's father was John Sperry and his mother was Mary Unknown.  His paternal grandparents were John Sperry and Agnes Rawlings. He had a brother and three sisters, named Richard, Agnes, Elizabeth and Mary.1
