Michael was born on October 1st, 1795 in Virginia.1   Michael's father was George Nicholas Spaid(Spaht) and his mother was Elizabeth Cale.  His paternal grandparents were Michael Spaht and Cune Gunda Spaht; his maternal grandfather was John Cale. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John, Fredrick, William, Richard, Elizabeth, Mary Polly, Christina and Nancy.  He died at the age of 76 on May 26th, 1872.1
