William was born in 1545 in Holme On Spalding Moor, York, England.1   William's father was John Sotheron and his mother was Phillipa Unknown. He had three sisters named Margaret, Janet and Alison.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 74 in 1619 in York, England.1
