Ann Black was born in 1877 in Braidwood, Illinois.1   Ann Black's father was George Skeldon and her mother was Janet Young.  Her paternal grandparents were Adam Skeldon and Anne Black. She had three brothers named Adam, Alexander and George Alexander.  She was the second youngest of the four children.1
