Clara Irene was born on October 2nd, 1889 in Livonia Twp, Wayne, Michigan.1   Clara Irene's father was George Washington Simmons and her mother was Harriett Cornelia Moore.  Her paternal grandparents were George W. C. Simmons and Mary Adeline Gooding; her maternal grandparents were Clyde Versil Moore and Harriett Abigail Fisher. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Clyde Versil, Guy Arthur, Claude Leroy, Ted, Ned, Lillian Augusta, Mary Adaline, Kathryn Mae and Mildred Noreen.  She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 69 on July 27th, 1959 in Pontiac, Wayne, Michigan.1
