Isabella was born on October 18th, 1851 in Mendota, Lasalle, Illinois.1   Isabella's father was Hartley Jay Setchell and her mother was Amanda Jane Goddard.  Her maternal grandparents were Riverus Goddard and Jane Buttes. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Mortimer T., Porter, Hartley J., Annette J., Marian L., Hattie S. and Ida Amanda.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.1
