1   William's father was Jerome Nathon Secord and his mother was Bridget Ann Rourke.  His paternal grandfather was Marvel Secord. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Fredrick Douglas, Asa, Harriet, Alice, Mabel and Minnie.1
