Bertha was born about 1878 in Schultitten, East Prussia, Preussen.1 Bertha's father was Fredrick William Schoenfeld and her mother was Henietta Arendt. Her paternal grandparents were Mr. Schoenfeld and Mrs. Schoenfeld. She had five brothers and a sister, named Albert, Franz, Paul, Carl Robert, Agusta and Marie.
