James Buist was born on December 19th, 1860 in Screven Co., GA.1   James Buist's father was Thomas Sasser and his mother was Mary O. Conner.  His paternal grandparents were Howell Sasser and Susan A. Bell. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Francis Marion, Samuel, Howell J., Thomas Judson, Susanna, Temperance, Mary Ophelia, Tallulah Augusta and Eunice.  He died at the age of 41 on August 15th, 1902.1
