1   Thankful's father was John Sage and her mother was Hannah Starr.  Her paternal grandparents were David Sage and Elizabeth Kirby; her maternal grandparents were Comfort Starr and Marah Weld. She had seven brothers and seven sisters, named John, Benoni, David, Nathaniel, Ebenezer, Comfort, Gideon, Hannah, Elizabeth, Mary, Ann, Prudence, Jemima and Elizabeth.1
