Charles was born in 1769.1   Charles' father was Thomas Rountree and his mother was Evy Sturgis.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Rountree and Lydia Unknown; his maternal grandparents were Andrew Sturgis and Rachel. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Andrew, Thomas, Joseph, Lydia and Rachel.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 47 in 1816.1
