James was born in November 1738 in Semley, England.1   James' father was John Rogers and his mother was Susan Unknown. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Luke, Henry, John, Mary, Betty, Sarah and Rebecca.  He died at the age of 84 on January 31st, 1823.1
