Thelma's father was Harold Ireland Rector and her mother was Mary Delilah Setter.  Her maternal grandparents were Jacob Setter and Saloma Jobe. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Clarence, Frank, Harry, Olive Moody, Helen, Marion and Thelma.
