John was born in Ditton, Lancashire, England.1 John's father was Thomas Rathbone and his mother was Alice Childwall. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Rathbone and Grace Coppowe. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Thomas, Mary, Alice and Grace. He died on October 6th, 1702 in Newshoreham, Newport, Rhode Island.1 -
