Daniel was born on March 20th, 1856 in Scott County, Virginia.  Daniel's father was John H. Ramey and his mother was Yarina Osborne.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Ramey and Margaret Patton. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named George M., Melliner, John H., William, Andrew Jackson, Sarah Anne, Mary A., Eliza, Mariah D., Mary Emily, Frances G. and Nancy A..  He died at the age of 50 in 1906.
