John Linnell was born on October 9th, 1821.1   John Linnell's father was Richard Partridge and his mother was Ann Linnell.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Partridge and Eliza ( ) Partridge; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Linnell and Susan Unknown. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Joseph Linnell, William Linnell, Richard, Edwin, Robert Henry, Susan Padbury, Elizabeth and Harriet Rebecca.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.1
