1   Bartholomew's father was Johannes Opdyke and his mother was Catherine Unknown.  His paternal grandparents were Louris Jansen Opdyck and Christina. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Albert, Lawrence, Annetie, Engeltie and Tryntie.1
