Catherine was born in 1850.1   Catherine's father was Josiah L. Nash and her mother was Emeline Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Singer Nash and Clarissa Burr. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Henry Singer, Herman S., Elizabeth, Anne Maria, Adella, Clara and Adelade.  She was the youngest of the eight children.1
