William was born on December 25th, 1768 in SC.1   William's father was Lewis Morgan and his mother was Mildred Gardner.  His paternal grandparents were John Morgan and Catherine Unknown. He had two brothers and a sister, named David, Thomas and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 90 on June 25th, 1859.1
