John Mervyn 
John was born about 1480 in Of Ramsey, Essex, England.1 John's father was Thomas Mervyn and his mother was Christian. His paternal grandparents were Roger Marvin and Matilda Unknown. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Robert, Ann and Miss. He was the oldest of the five children. He died in 1533 in Ramsay, co. Essex, England.2 General Notes

He was a wealthy yeoman of Ramsay and owned land in Great Oakley, Little Oakley and Harwich, co Essex. His will dated Ramsay 16 Sep 1533, proved 17 Dec 1533, requests that he be buried near his father in Church of St. Michael the Archangel. mentions holdins of land and houses, 10 milch beasts, 2 couple of oxen, 4 carthorses, more than 110 sheep, his quarter interest in the ship Mary and John, a "garthing plate" in Harwich that was his father's, bows and arrows.
