Her paternal grandparents were Edward Mervyn and Margaret; her maternal grandparents were Henry Gregory and Unknown Goddie. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Matthew, Samuel, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, Abigail, Rachel, Hannah and Lydia.
