Samuel was born in 1655 in Fairfield, CT.1 Samuel's father was Henry Lyons and his mother was Elizabeth Bateman. His maternal grandfather was William Bateman. He was an only child.1 General Notes

Beach Family Magazine: Father, Henry Lyons from Glen Lyon, Perthshire, Scotland, came to America in 1648. Mother Elizabeth Bateman, dau. William Bateman of Fairfield, CT. Henry Lyon died in Newark in 1703 and Samuel's will was made Aug. 20, 1706, and probated Feb. 26, 1707. His 2nd wife was Hannah Pierson, dau. of Thomas and Mary (Harrison) Pierson, who survived him.
