He died between the birth of his last child (bapt. 10/9/1650) and the date of an agreement (dated 1/31/1654) between his widow and her fiancee as to the division of his estate (Source 4, page 27). He never emigrated to the Americas.
In a power of attorney given at Beverwyck on October 3, 1679 by his three sons and the husbands of his three daughters he is referred to as "in his lifetime burgher of Hasselt" (Early Records of Albany 2:64-65 and see Sources 5, page 7, and Source 4, page 56). This is further evidence that all of his children were born in Hasselt and that is where he died.
The order of birth of his six children is given by a number of documents: Hasselt baptismal records for Aeltien and Hilletien (Source 5, page 27, agreement between their mother and her second husband (Source 5, page 27) and by the will of their mother and stepfather (Source 7, page 444). In the records of the two baptisms he is recorded as a baker (backer).
