William was born in 1480 in England.1   William's father was Roger Holcombe and his mother was Margaret Avenal.  His paternal grandparents were John Holcombe and Joan Folkeroy; his maternal grandfather was John Avenal. He had a brother and a sister, named Charles and Jane.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died in England.1
