Jane was born about 1873 in Iowa.1   Jane's father was Edwin Hinton and her mother was Betsey Unknown.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Hinton and Mary. She had two sisters named Emily and Mary Ann.  She was the second oldest of the three children.1
