George Merrick was born on October 17th, 1848 in Gilead, CT.1   George Merrick's father was Henry Higgins and his mother was Lucina Hutchinson.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 67 on July 20th, 1916 in Salt Lake City, UT.1
