Melvin Wilhelm Friedrich was born on February 15th, 1916 in Presque Isle County, Michigan.1 Melvin Wilhelm Friedrich's father was George William Haselhuhn and his mother was Ella Wilhelmina Mertz. His paternal grandparents were George Frederick Haselhuhn and Mary Florip; his maternal grandparents were William Frederick Mertz and Margaretha Wolgast. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Frederick Henry, Herman Martin Henry, Harry A., Ervin David Heinrich, Carolina A., Elsie Emma, Nora, Florence, Margaret, Marie and Lucie Emma Luise. He was the second youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 73 on November 24th, 1989.
