George W. was born on August 31st, 1855 in Portland, Ionia, Michigan.1   George W.'s father was Christopher Hare and his mother was Elizabeth Neff. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Edmond, Edwin B., Franklin D., Daniel F., Cecelia, Esther, Mary A. and Sarah M..  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 71 on April 19th, 1927 in Butternut, Montcalm, Michigan.1
