Gervase was born about 1043 in Of, Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, England.1   Gervase's father was Anchetil DeHarcourt and his mother was Eve DeBoissay. He had six brothers and a sister, named Errand (Anguerrand), Robert "The Strong", John, Arnold, Ivo, Ronald (Renauld) De and Agnes.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.1
