John was born on February 7th, 1754.1   John's father was John Hall and his mother was Jean Deal.  His paternal grandfather was John Hall; his maternal grandfather was William Deal. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, William, Robert "Sharper", Rachel, Mary, Rebecca and Sarah.1
