!died between April 1675-Nov.1676. Served Pequot War 1637 (Jacabus' List of Conn. & NH Officials, p.21); as Ensign Wethersfield Train Band 1665. Deputy from Wethersfield to CT Leg. 1660, 1662, 1665; freeman 15 May 1656. Among the 26 soldiers who took part in capture of Indian Fort at Mystic during Pequot War.

William the Younger and his brother John were wards of Clement Chaplin when their parents died. Chaplin came to New England 1635 in Elizabeth and Anne with Thomas Chaplin and William. and sometime prior to 1637, his wife and 2 wards joined him in Hartford,CT removing there with Rev. Thomas Hooker and his Congregation in Jul 1636.. Came to Wethersfield from Watertown ca.1635; res. his lands 3 Jan 1646, homestead, barn and 6 acres. Land bought of Thomas Ufford, bound by Highway (Main Street; the Common west. Homelot of John Nott, north; that of John Westell,south. 2 acres of this was formerly the west end of John Thomson's homelot, which was bound by the homestead of Clement Chaplin. Constable at Wethersfield 1646 He also bought Ufford's lot on east side of the river, 117 acres. He drew land in 1670 allotment. He left a good sized estate; inv. 14 Nov 1676 915/01/06
